We kicked off our beans 2020 programme in style with guest speakers, Darlington Cares.
It was a bright, sunny day and our guests were welcomed to Blackwell Meadows Rugby Club with coffee and cake. After some initial networking, we heard from Seth Pearson, Director of Darlington Cares who talked about the history of the organisation, how it was started and what the objectives were. The success since its start in 2012 has been outstanding with now over 30 local businesses getting involved as members and donating time to various social, environmental or education projects across the town. Darlington Cares gives businesses the opportunity to show their corporate social responsibility and be part of a growing movement to improve and develop our local community.
On the theme of community, we were also delighted to welcome St Teresa’s Hospice who came along with raffle tickets – the current prize being a fizz green brand-new Peugeot.
We would like to thank all those who joined us for beans and in particular to Seth who had been in Manchester at a conference all morning, got the train back to Darlington and then cycled to our event!
The afternoon was a great success and we are looking forward to our next event in April.
